Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about our 100% Lithuanian flax linen towels — how they perform, how to care for them, and how to choose the right size. Still have a question? Get in touch.

Choosing linen towels

Are linen towels actually absorbent?

Yes. Linen absorbs water faster than cotton — it pulls moisture off your skin almost instantly. Cotton terry holds more water by volume, but for drying your body what matters is speed of uptake, and linen wins there. Linen also gains absorbency after the first 8–10 washes as the natural waxes break down.

Aren’t linen towels stiff and scratchy?

They start slightly crisp out of the bag and soften with every wash, reaching peak softness around year two and staying there for years. The waffle weave is gentler than terry on skin and hair, and most people adjust to the texture within one or two showers.

How long do linen towels last?

A well-cared-for linen towel lasts 10–20 years. Linen is about twice as strong as cotton wet or dry and resists pilling and fraying. A cotton towel typically lasts 1–3 years, so linen costs less per year of use despite the higher upfront price.

Linen or cotton — which should I buy?

Choose linen if you want a towel that dries fast, never smells musty, and lasts for years. Choose cotton if you prefer a thick, plush, spa-like feel and don’t mind replacing towels every few years. See our full linen vs cotton comparison for the details.

Are linen towels worth the higher price?

Over their lifespan, yes — one linen towel outlasts roughly five to ten cotton ones and needs washing about half as often. Every order is backed by our 30-day money-back guarantee, so you can try one risk-free.

Material & certification

What is waffle weave and why does it matter?

Waffle weave is a raised grid pattern that creates hundreds of small pockets, dramatically increasing surface area. That structure pulls water off your skin quickly and lets the towel dry itself in about an hour.

What does OEKO-TEX Standard 100 mean?

It is an independent laboratory certification that the fabric has been tested free of over 100 harmful substances, including pesticide residues, heavy metals, and formaldehyde. It is safe for sensitive skin, children, and daily use.

Are linen towels really naturally antibacterial?

Yes. Flax fibers contain natural pectin and have an open structure that doesn’t hold the moisture bacteria need, so linen resists the musty smell cotton develops — without any chemical treatment.

Why Lithuanian flax?

Lithuania’s cool Baltic climate produces flax with exceptional strength and natural luster. It is grown without irrigation or pesticides, then spun and woven in the EU to OEKO-TEX Standard 100. Read more on our About Linen page.

Are your towels 100% linen?

Yes — 100% pure flax linen at 220 GSM, with no cotton blend or synthetic content.

Care & washing

How do I wash linen towels?

Machine wash warm or cool with a mild detergent, then tumble dry low or line dry. Skip fabric softener and bleach — linen softens naturally and additives only coat the fiber. See our full linen towel care guide.

Do linen towels shrink?

A little on the first wash — our towels are sized to account for it. Washing in cooler water and avoiding high-heat drying keeps shrinkage minimal.

How can I soften new linen towels faster?

Just wash and use them. Linen softens with every wash and reaches full softness around 8–10 washes. Avoid fabric softener, which actually slows the process.

Sizes & products

Bath towel or bath sheet — what size do I need?

A bath towel (30×58″) is the everyday standard. A bath sheet (35×70″) is larger for more coverage. Hand towels (14×28″) and washcloths (10×10″) round out a full set. See our bath sheet vs bath towel guide.

What sizes and products do you offer?

Bath towels, oversized bath sheets, hand towels, washcloths, and small bath towels, plus linen blankets and throws — available individually and in money-saving multi-packs and bundles. Browse the full range in our shop.

Shipping & returns

Where do you ship and how long does delivery take?

We ship from the EU. For current destinations, costs, and delivery times, see our Delivery & Returns page.

What is your return policy?

Try a towel for 30 days — use it and wash it twice — and if it doesn’t change how you think about towels, you get a full refund. Full details are on the Delivery & Returns page.

Are linen towels good for sensitive skin?

Yes. Our linen is OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified and free of harmful chemicals, and the smooth waffle texture is gentle on sensitive skin. See our note on linen towels for sensitive skin.
